Southwest Organizing Project (SWOP) is a statewide multi-racial, multi-issue, community based membership organization. Since 1980 we have worked to make it possible for thousands of New Mexicans to begin to have a place and voice in social, economic and environmental decisions that affect our lives. Our mission is "working to empower our communities to realize racial and gender equality and social and economic justice."

SWOP's mission statement: Working to empower our communities in the Southwest to realize racial and gender equality and social and economic justice!

SWOP's organizers live, organize and build power in low-and-middle-income neighborhoods, disenfranchised areas, and communities of color to influence public opinion and public policy and to have a real say in the decisions that profoundly affect our daily lives. For nearly 30 years, SWOP has given working people the tools and voice to hold our government and corporations accountable and to build healthy, pollution-free communities.
