Noted author and lecturer, Harry Willson, died March 9 at the age of 77. He and his wife, Adela Amador, founded the Amador Publishers, a press devoted to "peace, equality, (and) respect for all cultures." Harry was an active supporter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in his drive for civil rights and of Dr. Charles Hyder in his opposition to radioactive dumping. Harry left his church and his career as a minister when the church refused to oppose the war in Vietnam. Memorial donations can be made to the Humanist Society of New Mexico, PO Box 13675, Albuquerque, NM 87192. Don Schrader tells us that in the month of March, the Albuquerque Journal has published a couple of columns by Amy Goodman. Don is calling editor Dan Herrera at 823-3810 to thank them for publishing Amy and to encourage continued alternatives to mainstream media. Please consider calling the Journal and expressing your gratitude.

On April 1, Women in Black begins its eighth year of standing for peace in weekly silent vigils. These happen every Thursday in front of the Federal Courthouse, on Lomas between 3rd and 4th, from noon til 1pm. Women in Black symbolizes the tragedy of victims of violence and represents an international movement to promote and cultivate peace. This movement began in Jerusalem in January 1988. All women are invited to attend. For more info: Joan Robins at 341-2306 or 1robins@swcp.com . Since December 2006, ACP&J has been earning a donation every time someone searches the internet using GoodSearch.com, a Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue -about a penny per search - to the charities its users designate. Use it as you would any search engine, and ACP&J will benefit from your participation. Although we do not promote consumerism, if you have to do some shopping, GoodShop.com, will donate up to 30% of each purchase to your favorite cause - in this case, ACP&J.
