On May 31, 2009 the Turquoise Trail Performing Arts group held a benefit concert for ACP&J. The singing was lovely, and the reception festive. Thank you, TTPA, for thinking of us, and for this great opportunity to connect with new friends while enjoying music, cake, and lemonade on a Sunday afternoon. Peace Quilt Show through July Students from Acoma Pueblo, Santo Domingo Pueblo, and Solomon Schechter Day School in NM, collaborated through art & writing, what being a peacemaker means to them, and how they can make their world a better place. The children's work was then sewn into 11 quilts by community members that will be donated to children from around the world who suffer hardship. The quilts are on display in the Peace Hall. Come enjoy them. | ||||||||

The Central America Solidarity Network (CASN) is organizing a delegation that will be going to Nogales, a border town between Arizona and Mexico, in mid-July to spend some time at the tent and commodore that serve immigrants who are deported daily by busloads from the U.S. Many arrive dehydrated and require medical care, especially for injured feet. We are requesting donations of: socks, men's pants, ace bandages, gauze, triple antibiotic ointment, anti-fungal cream, and oral rehydration packets. Monetary donations are also welcome. Checks can be made to First Unitarian Church with CASN on the memo line. Please bring donations to the Peace Center or First Unitarian Church.
